A Message to Our Friends: Store Closure and Future Business Plans
After 8 years of operating our bead shop we have decided to close our store at the end of April. Circumstances have led us to conclude that we need to look at alternative ways of serving our customers. We would like to emphasis the point that we are NOT going out of business, but we are changing the way will operate in the future. We will most likely maintain a presence at some of the area trade/craft shows as well as organizing occasional independent promotions. If you would like to be kept abreast of our ongoing plans in this regard as well as the promotions we will be running here at the store until the end of April, you can join our email list by clicking on the following link or sending us an email at: signmeup@elegantnotions.com.. This information will be used solely for the purpose outlined above and your address can be removed at any time by emailing us at the same address with a request to be removed. Also, addresses which do not appear to be followed will be removed to keep the list at a manageable size.
There will be a number of changes due to our plans and we will endeavor to minimize the inconvenience they may cause our customers. Our return policy will remain the same for the time being - items that have not been open and are returned in original condition may be returned on an exchange only basis (no refunds). This return policy will not apply to ANY items sold on sale or at a discount from the original price. Also all returns will ultimately be at the discretion of the store management.
We will focus on maintaining our extensive range of unusual and quality items. Once current stocks of generic products - principally, books, magazines, non-core items, seed beads and supplies, we will not be re-ordering replacement stock as these items are readily available from alternative suppliers. This will allow us to focus on our core business and enhance our ability to continue to offer these items at the best possible prices.
Hours of operation will most likely be subjected to alteration from time to time to meet with your needs and preferred time for visiting. In all cases this is expected to increase the number of hours we will be opened - not decrease.
Finally, in response to the increases costs for processing credit/debit card transactions - will will be charging a $2.50 surcharge for all card transaction for sales for less than $20. This fee is essentially a pass on of the charge we currently pay and cannot cover on lower volume sales.
We hope you understand that we are still trying to find the right combination which will give our customers the best selection of products at the best prices.

Wednesday - Saturday
11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Closed Monday & Tuesday

Bead & Jewelry Making Resources
We continue to expand the scope of our bead resources section.
We have been adding more and more link to our new links page. We have had links submitted by a number of people for various resources including beading sites, discussion groups and message boards. If you have a link you would like to share, please send it to us.
Work continue work on our project dedicated to promoting the extensive bead research done by the late Peter Francis Jr.
We will be continually expanding this section in the coming months in an effort to turn it into a premiere source of information for beaders and jewelry makers. In addition, if you have anything you would like to share or would be of interest to your fellow beaders, please drop us a line and tell us about it.
We are currently updating our database on bead societies and clubs. Please take a moment to look at our listings and check to see if the information for your club or organization is correct and current. Also, if you are in a bead group we have an offer for you that you can't refuse. We are offering all beading organizations a free web page on this site to use as you wish. You can use it to advertise your organization, announce upcoming events or classes or basically anything you want - as long as it is related to beads. This is entirely free - all we ask is that you provide a link to our site from yours (if you have one, otherwise there is no requirement) which we assume you would want to do anyway so that your members can find your page. If you are interested please let us know. Finally, if your group has a regular printed newsletter and you accept paid advertisers, please contact us concerning advertising rates and deadlines.

Free African Trade Bead Contest!
Somewhere on our website - outside of the store - is a 'hot-spot'. There is still 1 strand of our very nice Handmade African Brass Bicone Trade Beads available (congratulations to Jeannette Spencer and Jen Szczublewski for being the first two to find the secret code).
